Spindler to the post of General Counsel & Head Legal Affairs. Upon assuming his new duties as of 15 March 2010, Johannes C. Spindler will hold the title of Executive Vice President and become a member of Swissport Executive Management.

Swissport International, the world’s leading aviation services company, has been awarded a ground handling licence for Munich Airport. Swissport and its local joint-venture partner Losch Airport Service won the corresponding tender process against various well-known competitors. The seven-year licence will enable Swissport/Losch to provide ramp (apron) services at the airport. These operations have now been scheduled to commence on 1 March 2010.
Zurich, 29 October 2009 – Swissport International, the world’s leading provider of ground services to the aviation sector, is to extend its existing cooperation agreement with leading European low-cost carrier easyJet for a further four years. The accord, which is of major importance to both partners, covers the provision of ground services at Geneva Airport for some 31 000 movements a year.
Zurich, 23 October 2009 – Swissport International, the world’s leading provider of ground services to the Aviation sector, and its local venture partner Inter Airport Services, obtained the licence to launch ground handling business activities in Costa Rica. The long-term agreement covers the two inter-national Airports Juan Santa Maria in San Jose and Daniel Oduber in Liberia, is scheduled to commence on 1 November 2009.

Zurich, 8 October 2009 – Swissport International, the world’s leading provider of ground services to the aviation sector, has been appointed by Qantas Freight to provide cargo ground handling services at London Heathrow Airport. Operations started smoothly and successfully in mid-September. The new business is the third major win by Swissport Cargo Services UK within the last two month, following South African Airways and Finnair.
Zurich, 1 October 2009 – Swissport will be terminating its passenger handling activities at Vienna Airport at the end of 2009. The world’s leading ground handler has been compelled to take this action following the collapse of SkyEurope in August and the insufficient prospects of positive local business development in the longer term. Swissport will now seek the best possible solutions for all the airlines affected by its decision, and hopes that the employees concerned – around 70 – can be taken over by the airport’s handling agents together with their duties.
