Swissport has acquired Protectas Aviation Security Ltd., the Zurich-based security company which is active at three airports in Switzerland and at six stations in four countries in Africa. The acquisition, which is retroactive to January 1, 2004, marks another diversification for Swissport into the increasingly-important airline and airport security business, and should thus further strengthen the group’s leading position in the global ground handling sector.[more]


In the past two years the airline industry has witnessed new evolution in the ULD sector. Around the same time that Unitpool introduced ULD management control and ULD pooling services, Aerobox started production of the newest generation of airline container. Now these two pioneering companies have come together through the signing of a marketing agreement aimed at promoting Unitpool services and Aerobox products.[more]


The Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO) has signed on December 19th, 2003 a framework agreement with Unitpool to benefit from its ULD control and pooling services for its member airlines.[more]


Swiss International Air Lines Ltd., Switzerland's national carrier, has signed a five-year agreement with Unitpool who will provide the airline with ULD control and pooling services.[more]


Together with the new uruguayan Airline "Uair" Swissport has concluded a cooperation agreement for Latin America starting operations as from December 1st, 2003.[more]


Swissport UK is pleased to inform that senior officers of the union TGWU confirmed that industrial actions planned for London Heathrow have been called off. The package of measures will be recommended for acceptance by the union at a mass meeting of members to be held at the Airport soon. [more]


Munich has successfully passed the external ISO 9001 audited by TÜV. This brings the total of Swissport's certified stations up to 55.[more]


Swissport is to assume the airfreight handling responsibility over the Cargologic's Geneva operations from January 1st, 2004. This transaction has been approved by the Cargologic's owners, the Rhenus Alpina Group.[more]
