Extra efforts by Swissport to cope with adverse weather conditions in Europe
Zurich/London - January 6th, 2010 : Ground handling delays and inconveniences are currently being experienced at many European airports. The recent adverse weather conditions are affecting different destinations, most heavily in the UK where the delivery of baggage is being severely delayed. Snow and ice at airports, and disruption to the scheduled arrival and departure of flights, is creating certain backlogs of activity outside the planned schedules and further significant delays to ground handling operations. Swissport is taking all steps (and extra measures) to ensure that delays are minimised where possible. Staff at all European Swissport stations are working with airline partners and airport operators to implement contingency arrangements to deliver baggage. Swissport is making every effort to ensure bags are delivered as quickly as possible.
