Swissport International launches improved Freightfinder Website for “Track & Trace”

Zurich, 1 June – Swissport Cargo Services launches an improved version of it’s FREIGHTfinder Track and Trace website. New functionality includes customer specific information available in real-time, with access through secure log-in. This compliments historic AWB tracking. One of the key advantages to the system is that information can be seen at airline or station level, negating the need to check multiple sites. If the shipment is handled in multiple Swissport stations the full history can be retrieved from all stations on a password protected basis.

John Batten, Executive Vice-President Global Cargo explained the background and stated:

"We operate in a service industry where our customers need transparency regarding the status and availability of shipments. Our commitment to IT and innovative solutions does not just involve new products, but constant development of what we already have. This distinguishes us from others in our field and enhances our ‘one stop shop’ approach. The development of this tool is very a good example of an initiative driven by engagement with the customer, listening to their needs, and reacting accordingly. This type of active engagement will remain a top priority for us through 2010 and beyond”.

The system has the following functionality:

AWB Tracking & Tracing is open for all who want to trace the (history) status of a particular shipment and gives a full overview of the main milestones of the shipment.

Flight Status is a function that will be available for airline customers to view their own flights securely. With this option a customer can monitor the breakdown / build-up status of their flights and trucks in real-time.

Booked v/s Actual gives an airline customer real-time view on no-shows, and differences between the booked and actual pieces, weight and volume.

Inventory Status is an option for airline and forwarder customers to retrieve inventory information of their shipments. This function will be available in Q3 2010.

The initiative is enhanced by the continued roll-out of hand-held scanning devices. Terminals are operational in locations throughout Europe with Africa joining later this year. Further locations are planned for 2011.

The capture of real-time data also supports developments within Cargo 2000 and Customer Retention Management (CRM). CRM is a key initiative whereby Swissport actively engages with customers and other stakeholders to analyze results, solve problems, plan ahead, and promote the continued improvement of our service delivery.
