EuroAirport Skyview Lounge achieves this year’s “Priority Pass Global Airport Lounge of the Year” award
EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (EuroAirport) and Swissport International Ltd. (Swissport), the world’s leading provider of ground handling and air cargo services to the aviation industry, today announced that the EuroAirport Skyview Lounge at EuroAirport has been awarded “Priority Pass Global Airport Lounge of the Year” for the second time. The lounge, owned by EuroAirport and operated by Swissport, has also previously won the regional European Award. Priority Pass Members vote on a set of criteria covering overall lounge quality, including refreshments, staff, business facilities and ambience. The features that helped the lounge to stand out against over 850 lounges include a unique infrastructure as well as comprehensive customer services. A further special feature of the EuroAirport Skyview Lounge is that it is open to all passengers independent of their carrier or booking class.
Located in the only bi-national airport in the world, the EuroAirport Skyview Lounge reflects the craftsmanship of Swiss and French architecture and design. It stretches out over 1,700 square metres and three levels, caters for business and leisure travellers alike, and comfortably accommodates up to 200 guests. EuroAirport took over the lounge in October 2012 and rebranded it to EuroAirport Skyview Lounge because of the fantastic view from its unique 360-degree glass dome. A wide terrace offers a uniquely close view of the busy airport runway and apron and serves as an exclusive smoking zone. Exotic palm trees surround a soothing pool of water in the centre of the lounge. This, together with the luxurious furnishings, creates a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Customer feedback has also helped to shape an international food offering, where local and seasonal products play an important role. Other services include free WiFi, a work zone with printers, computer terminals and conference facilities as well as showers for customers wishing to freshen up before their flight.
Matthias Suhr, Director at EuroAirport, emphasizes: “We pride ourselves on a high standard of lounge service and constantly strive to improve passenger comfort – a great example of this is making a range of hot food available to lounge guests throughout the day. After achieving European recognition in previous years we are absolutely delighted to receive this year’s Global Award which is testament to our on-going investment in the airport’s infrastructure and to our commitment to quality services.”
Gion-Pieder Pfister, CEO Swissport Basel, comments: “With regular surveys amongst our customers we are listening to their demands and needs. Swissport makes sure it always adapts its services to zeitgeisty and international customer needs. Our employees regularly attend training to improve their skills in multicultural environments. This is key to our success. We understand this year’s global award as the return on investment in employee training and as a gratification to our dedicated team of EuroAirport Skyview Lounge.”
Stephen Simpson, Global Marketing Director, Priority Pass, owned by Collinson Group said: “We congratulate EuroAirport Skyview Lounge on its achievements. Having won the European category of this prestigious award in the past, the team’s commitment and drive to continue raising the bar is inspiring. In order to win, lounges must demonstrate the strongest commitment to excellence and it is clear that the entire team at EuroAirport Skyview Lounge are dedicated to exceeding frequent flyer expectations year in year out.”
The award winning lounge, which is owned by EuroAirport and operated by Swissport, is part of Swissport’s global portfolio of owned and operated lounges which includes Aspire Lounges, Servisair Lounges and Swissport Lounges throughout Europe and North America. The EuroAirport Skyview Lounge at Basel-Mulhouse Airport has an impressive award winning history: in 2014, 2009, 2008 and 2005 it was named Priority Pass European Lounge of the Year while in 2011 and 2010 it achieved a “Highly Commended”. The lounge was also named ‘Global Winner of the Priority Pass Lounge of the Year Award’ in 2012.
