Swissport continues to grow into a global ground handler

Zurich Airport, November 22, 1999 -Swissport

International Ltd., the ground handling company of

the SAirGroup, is to take over all the passenger

and ramp handling activities of Aer Lingus at

London's Heathrow Airport. The move, which follows

the recent acquisition of DynAir and of equity

holdings in Serlipsa of Peru and Miascor of the

Philippines, along with the imminent commencement

of its own ground handling services in Greece,

marks a further step in Swissport's development

into a global player in the ground handling

market.

Swissport

has been performing passenger handling at London's

Heathrow Airport for three years now. In assuming

responsibility for these Aer Lingus activities,

Swissport International is also gaining access to

the attractive ramp handling sector at Europe's

bussiest airport. "Swissport UK will also be taking

over all of Aer Lingus's one thousand or so

highly-skilled ground handling personnel," adds

Joseph In Albon, President & CEO of Swissport

International. The Irish-based carrier currently

provides ground services at Heathrow for 25

international airlines. It is planned to formalise

the contract documentation by the end of November

1999.

Swissport

International continues to expand in Latin America,

too. Having already established operations at nine

airports in Brazil, the company has now acquired a

30-per-cent equity holding in Serlipsa (Servicio

Litoral Pacifico S.A), the Peruvian ground handling

company. Serlipsa provides ground handling services

for nine domestic and international carriers at

Lima's Jorge Chavez International Airport with its

104 personnel.

These

developments follow Swissport International's

landmark acquisition in August of this year of

DynAir, the leading independent ground handling

company in the United States. With DynAir already

active at 55 airports in North America, the move

provides Swissport with an invaluable foothold in

this key ground handling market. This summer also

saw Swissport International acquire a 40-per-cent

holding in Miascor Ground Handling Corp. of the

Philippines, a development which extends

Swissport's activities to the Asia-Pacific region.

Swissport

International Ltd., which is part of the

SAirGroup's SAirServices division, is one of the

world's leading ground handlers, caring for over 53

million passengers a year on behalf of more than

300 airlines in its operations at 105 airports in

17 different countries on four continents.

Swissport has a total workforce of some 15 000

employees and achieved a consolidated turnover of

around CHF 900 million last year.
