Swissport Oman: Successful Start of Muscat Operations

Swissport Oman, a subsidiary of Swissport International, the world’s leading provider of ground and air cargo services to the aviation industry, has started its Muscat operations on April 15th, 2017. Launch customers are flydubai and Air Arabia. This great endeavour was underlined by a festive start-up event where several notable guests were in attendance. The successful entry into the Omani market symbolizes a milestone in Swissport’s attempt to further expand in the Middle East region.

Since April 15th, 2017, Swissport Oman provides flydubai and Air Arabia with comprehensive ground handling services including passenger and ramp handling, baggage services, operations coordination and load control for a total of 10 daily regional flights.

In order to achieve outstanding operations from the beginning, Swissport Oman has invested considerable amounts in new equipment and well-trained staff, Oman-based and from overseas. Moreover, trainers and other support staff from 18 different countries have been flown in to assist on site.

To celebrate this successful start-up project, Swissport and its local joint venture partner, the Al Jarwani Group, organized an event at Muscat’s Millennium Hotel on April 23rd, 2017. Among the notable guests were the Chairman of OAMC (Oman Airports Management Company), Chairman of PACA (Public Authority of Civil Aviation) and numerous other VVIPs of the Omani transport and aviation industry.

During his keynote speech, Swissport’s Senior Vice President Ground Handling Middle East and Africa, Mark Skinner, stated "To be able to enter Oman, another promising new market for Swissport in the Middle East, makes us proud.
