Swissport International Ltd., the world’s leading provider of ground and cargo handling services to the aviation industry, has been voted best cargo handler in Africa for the third time in a row by the readers of The STAT Trade Times Magazine. Swissport received the Award during the Air Cargo Africa 2015, the continent’s largest air cargo trade fair.
Swissport International, the world’s leading provider of ground and cargo handling services to the aviation industry, today announced the opening and operational start of Swissport Ghana. Swissport Ghana is an equally owned joint venture company between Swissport International and Ghana Airport Cargo Centre (GACC). GACC is a joint venture between Air Ghana, a registered Ghanaian Airline and Logistics Company based in Accra, Ghana, and the Ghana Airports Company, the official operator of all airports and aerodromes in Ghana. Swissport Ghana will offer cargo warehousing and ramp handling at a brand new cargo warehouse, which is currently under construction and scheduled to be completed in Q4, 2015.
On 9 February 2015, Airport Management Group LLP (AMG), JSC “Astana International Airport” and Swissport International Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), in which the parties agreed that Swissport will take over the complete ground handling from Astana International Airport in two phases. The cooperation will commence on 1 May 2015 with the newly established joint venture “Swissport Kazakhstan” taking over passenger handling in Astana. In a second phase, the joint venture will take over the entire ground handling services by the end of the year, then also including ramp and de-icing services.
Swissport International (Swissport), the world´s largest provider of ground and cargo handling services to the aviation industry, names Dirk Schmitt as new CEO Cargo Services Germany & Austria, with effect 1 February 2015. He will be responsible for Swissport Cargo Services (SCS) Germany, a successful, profitable operating unit employing approximately 400 staff. The task will include running Swissport’s cargo operations at currently 9 online airports as well as several subcontracted European stations.
The Executive Aviation FBO in Nice, part of Swissport Executive Aviation and a joint venture of Swissport International and Universal Weather and Aviation Inc. today announced the appointment of Rochdi Touri as new FBO Director Swissport Executive Aviation. Rochdi Touri will start in his new position effective 15 January, 2015, and will be based in Nice, France. Rafael Fromentin, Deputy FBO Director, will closely work with Rochdi. Together, the new leadership team of Swissport Executive Aviation Nice will ensure it not only meets but exceeds the high service quality levels and stability clients are expecting.
