Swissair Group and Candover have reached agreement over the terms of the acquisition of Swissport. Completion is anticipated by end of january 2002.[more]

The SAirGroup has applied with the responsible court for a moratorium of debt enforcement for the SAirGroup, SAirLines and Flightlease companies. Swissport, always an independant company within the SAirGroup, does not make part of this transaction. Therefore all activities remain unchanged and stay in full operation. Restructuring talks continue Normal flight operations for Monday Sep. 30. (19:30) With efforts continuing to return the Swissair Group to a sounder business footing, Monday flight operations and other activities will be conducted as normal. The Federal Council will also meet Monday to further discuss the situation. The talks on the group's future held in Bern on Sunday afternoon were conducted in an open and constructive atmosphere, Group CEO Mario Corti reports. Aug. 22. Georges Peter, who headed Swissair's Basel station for many years and has been CEO of Swissport Basel AG since its creation in 1994, has been named CEO of Swissport France. He will be succeeded at Swissport Basel by Stefan Resele. Georges Peter moves to Nice to take up his new assignment on October 1. He takes over from Jan Tindemans, who will be leaving the Swissair Group at the end of August. Full arrangements have already been made for the September transition period. Georges Peter will be succeeded as CEO of Swissport Basel by Stefan Resele. Having served as a station manager for several years and been with Swissport International since its ground handling subsidiary was established - first in Business Development and now as Executive VP Operations - Resele brings a wealth of experience to his new position.
