Background Information
Innovation
With daily monitoring of the key drivers of the business and tracking of the shipments in line with Cargo 2000 standards, we have a transparent overview of our services that ensures service quality and enforces operational excellence. Implementation of hand-held terminals reduces human error and ensures an efficient operation which allows you to also benefit from reduced handling and cost. Daily follow-up on hours worked, volumes handled, door waiting times and many other measures ensures a full scorecard approach of the daily activity to further support the Cargo operations and help deliver efficient operations.
An integral component of managing Cargo operations effectively is continual service innovations and the optimal use of information technology. Swissport’s global structure enables the rapid adoption of the latest technologies that empower cost efficiency and effective operations.
Some benefits of this approach to innovation include:
— Cargospot – The system is used to manage our cargo business as well as measure, report and communicate the Cargo 2000 milestones to our customers. Using this technology allows our customers to measure and improve their processing costs due to the availability of performance data which can also allow for errors to be identified and corrected. This system is capable of interfacing with any airline system and means that for our customers, they have no additional IT costs relating to the multi-connectivity with the airline host system. The system also provides a customs interface and numerous reports both automated and through the data warehouse to reduce office administration time. The system is e-freight enabled and if e-freight protocols are used by an airline a saving in office costs are also expected.
— Freightfinder – Using the latest technology, FreightFinder allows you to track and trace your freight in any of our warehouses worldwide. It also allows you to check the status codes used by Cargo 2000 (C2K) at the same time. This application is accessible from your computer or mobile device (iPhone, Android or Blackberry).
— Hand-Held Terminals – Swissport customers benefit from our investment in the latest technology with hand-held terminals (HHT). The use of this technology allows Swissport’s customers to benefit from real-time status updates so shipments can be tracked and traced in our warehouses, reduce handling costs and time, as well as automatically updating Cargospot with all Cargo 2000 compliant, messaging standards.
— Volume Scanning Devices – The use of volume scanning devices allows our customers to calculate the volume of shipments with accuracy. This system, introduced at selected airports for key customers, provides evidence of accurate weight and volume per shipment resulting in increased flown revenue, accurate invoicing and no increase in handling acceptance time.
