London City Airport is located in the Royal Docks in the London Borough of Newham close to the two centres of London's financial industry, the City of London and Canary Wharf. The airport was opened in 1988 as part of the regeneration of London's Docklands area and primarily serves European business and leisure destinations. The airport is operated by London City Airport Ltd.
