Environmental management is part of our focus on Quality, Health, Safety and the Environment. As part of our commitment we are currently refining our environmental management system to ensure compliance with ISO 14001:2015.
As part of our commitment we are currently refining our environmental management system to ensure compliance with ISO 14001:2015 and expand it to cover all business areas. Presently, 17 of our locations are certified. Drawing insights from these stations, we plan to expand coverage to at least 80 per cent of our network by the end of 2024. This updated system will enhance our internal and external reporting capabilities, significantly amplifying our contribution to environmentally responsible operations at the airports we serve.
We maintain an open dialogue with our customers and employees, as well as with airports, in an effort to understand their needs and define compatible goals. As an active member of the ISAGO Council, we are helping to shape an environmentally compatible and socially responsible future for aviation in general, and for ground handling in particular.
Environmental care
promoting accountability
All the policies and regulations aside, environmental care is, more than anything, the personal responsibility of every employee. While we meet all the requirements of the Swissport Management System and relevant policies and procedures, we are aware of the importance of the individual accountability. Acting in a professional, safe and environmentally responsible manner is a shared responsibility.
Mitigating our IMPACT
Eco-Powered Fleet
We have identified three main drivers for Swissport’s environmental impact: operational, managerial and behavioral. The greatest and most influenceable impact can be found in our Ground Support Equipment (GSE) area. We strive to deploy electrically powered and hybrid GSE (eGSE) wherever possible. eGSE decreases toxic exhaust emissions and reduces our carbon footprint, and it also leads to significant fuel cost savings.
