Safety First. Always and Everywhere

Every year, our people safely manage more than 4 million flights, 5 million tons of cargo, and almost 6 million lounge guests. This scale demands precision, consistency, and a safety-first approach at every touchpoint.

CONSISTENT SAFETY PERFORMANCE

ENSURING GLOBAL COMPLIANCE

At Swissport, we do not compromise on safety. We work relentlessly towards our goal of zero accidents and injuries. Our central governance model and standardized processes ensure safe, efficient, and repeatable service across our global network.

We are recognized globally by the IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) and holding ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications for quality, environmental, and health and safety management, respectively.

ICARE ABOUT SAFETY

ELEVATING OUR SAFETY CULTURE

At Swissport, we firmly believe that every accident, injury, or work-related illness is preventable. Our ultimate aim is zero harm to our people, equipment, and our customers.

iCare is our unique safety standard that symbolizes our practical and active culture of care that keeps our colleagues and operations safe and secure.

It is visible symbol of our commitment to quality, health, safety, and the environment, reassuring colleagues, customers, and airport partners that our practices are informed by industry standards and aligned with global protocols.

GLOBAL TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

MASTERING SAFE PROCEDURES

Swissport strives to create a safe, motivating, and inspiring work environment for all of our 65,000 employees.

We invest in onboarding and training programs for staff at all levels; for every 100 hours worked by our operational colleagues, they receive 3 hours of targeted training, all fully aligned with the IATA Ground Operations Manual (IGOM).

This commitment to development ensures that we have the best people on-hand at all times of year, with teams prepared for our peak seasons.

TECHNOLOGY AND AUTOMATION

ENHANCING SAFETY WITH INNOVATION

We create safer environments for our people by investing in automated systems and smart equipment. Swissport is the first global ground handler to pilot autonomous ramp support equipment, designed to enhance airside safety.

We are also rolling out AI-driven ground camera technology and Aircraft Proximity Detection Systems (APDS), providing real-time monitoring of operations to identify and reduce risk of harm.

INDUSTRY-LEADING SAFETY MANAGEMENT

OUR PLAN FOR SAFE OPERATIONS

‘Safety-first’ is more than a mindset. At Swissport, our comprehensive safety management system emphasizes accountability and promotes quality across the business.

We conduct more than 600,000 safety inspections each year, with all significant safety incidents reviewed in-line with our standard operation procedures.

Swissport consistently promotes safety best practices and learnings through our iCare standard, highlighting positive actions that lead to safer environments.
