The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has awarded Swissport’s warehouse operations in Nairobi with the CEIV certificate for pharmaceutical logistics. CEIV is IATA’s Center of Excellence for Independent Validators. Swissport is the first globally operating air cargo handler to receive the CEIV Pharma certification for a facility in Africa.
Swissport is further expanding its airport lounge business in Canada. Today, the Swiss market leader for airport ground services and air cargo handling opened its 49th airport lounge under its Aspire brand at Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport.
Swissport Executive Aviation, a subsidiary of Swissport International AG, is further expanding its business in Morocco. After establishing its first Moroccan fixed-base operation (FBO) for business and executive aviation in Casablanca in 2018, Swissport now moved into a dedicated VIP terminal at Marrakech Menara Airport, which opened on 1 February 2020.
Air Tanzania has commissioned Swissport to handle their entire hub operation at the airports of Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro. The new agreement includes a comprehensive service catalogue for Airport Ground Services, Air Cargo Handling and Aviation Security.
Swissport’s large-scale launch of its first cargo business in Australia is officially underway following the signing of a lease agreement for a brand-new air cargo facility at Melbourne Airport, with other locations to be announced early this year.
Swissport and Lufthansa signed a 5-year contract for cargo handling at Brussels and Liège airports. The agreement covers Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines.
Swissport International is further expanding its lounge business in Europe. Since September alone, three new Aspire lounges were opened at the UK airports of London Gatwick, Edinburgh and now Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
Swissport International has appointed Rudolf Steiner as Head of Cargo EMEA. Mark Skinner becomes Head of Business Development & Sales EMEA. By appointing dedicated managers for its Air Cargo and the Ground Services businesses, Swissport strengthens its customer centricity further. They both assume their new roles on 1 November 2019.
Swissport is pleased to announce that Frank Mena, Chief Commercial Officer of Swissport Americas, will take over from Dany Nasr as CEO Swissport North America. Dany Nasr is leaving the company.
Swissport International has opened its state-of-the-art Pharma Center for temperature-sensitive cargo shipments at Brussels Airport today. The new facility offers 3,620 sqm of temperature-controlled warehouse space, providing clients with an end-to-end cool chain. Once completed the cargo complex will boast some 25,000 sqm of warehouse space.
