Air Cargo Week awards Swissport with Air Cargo Handling Agent of the year distinction
Swissport has won the prestigious Air Cargo Handling Agent of the Year 2021 award issued by Air Cargo Week. The distinction, based on criteria such as investments in people and technology, service standards, quality and scope of service, confirms Swissport’s position as a reliable partner and global leader in air cargo handling.
The yearly World Air Cargo awards by Air Cargo Week, this time organized virtually, highlight outstanding performance in global air cargo by presenting awards in ten categories across the industry. Swissport’s achievements throughout these extremely challenging times for global aviation were honored with the Air Cargo Handling Agent of the Year 2021 award. The selection criteria in this category include investments in people and technology, service standards, quality and scope of service.
“We are honored to be named Air Cargo Handling Agent of the Year 2021 by Air Cargo Week. This distinction is dedicated to our cargo professionals at over 100 warehouses across our network," says Warwick Brady, President & CEO of Swissport International. "Throughout this greatest crisis in aviation history, Swissport has contributed to keep cargo flying. We now turn to helping our customer airlines ramp-up the passenger business, too."
In the past year, Swissport’s dedicated cargo experts across the globe have shown great flexibility and perseverance in making sure that lifesaving and economically vital cargo reaches its destination safely and on time. Their extra efforts in a time of crisis are now also honored with this award.
Swissport has continued to develop its air cargo business throughout the pandemic. Investments in digitization and innovation with projects such as the self-service kiosks, ULD-tracking and new mobile devices are aimed at increasing efficiency and service quality. In November 2020, a state-of-the-art 17,000 sqm air cargo warehouse with Swissport Pharma Center was inaugurated at Frankfurt Airport and in March of this year, a brand new office building was opened at the Brussels cargo hub. Just recently, Swissport announced the expansion of its air cargo business at Vienna Airport with a new terminal, where construction is officially starting today. More crucial investments in global air cargo infrastructure are expected to be announced soon.
