Swissport successfully implements new market-leading departure control system and messaging service

After a successful migration process, the market-leading departure control system by Amadeus Altea is now implemented at 30 airports in 10 different countries within the Swissport network, supporting the handling process of seven million passengers. It replaces Swissport’s existing departure control system axsControl DCS by DXC at these 30 airports.

The selection of Amadeus Altea’s solutions is the result of an in-depth search and evaluation process. It’s departure control system is state-of-the-art and will provide Swissport with the necessary tools needed. Along with the new departure control system, Swissport chose SITA as the provider for telex messaging. The migration of 421 telex addresses to SITA is now completed. The new system is currently in use at 139 airports worldwide.

Swissport Group CIO, Christoph Kleinsorg, is pleased: “The implementation of two market-leading and globally accepted solutions is an important milestone for Swissport. It will enable us to fulfill the demands of our clients and to provide them with the best possible service going forward.”

Swissport has been using the departure control system axsControl DCS by DXC for many years. The origins of this system go back to the 1970s when it was developed by the Swissair Group. In March 2017, DXC informed Swissport that they will be facing out axsControl and axsMessaging and that these would not be available beyond the end of March 2018.

Swissport International Ltd., on behalf of more than 850 client-companies, provides best-in-class airport ground services for some 265 million passengers annually and handles approximately 4.7 million tonnes of air cargo at 133 warehouses world-wide. Several of its warehouses have been certified for Pharmaceutical Logistics by IATA’s CEIV. With a workforce of 68,000, the world’s leading provider of ground and air cargo services, is active at 315 airports in 50 countries across all five continents. In 2017 the group generated consolidated operating revenue of EUR 2.8 billion.
