Leading sustainability
How Swissport builds the skills and capabilities for sustainable operations
Our approach is centred on structured capability development through Swissport Academy, ensuring employees understand environmental and social responsibilities as part of safe, efficient, and compliant operations across diverse airport environments.
Sustainability learning is reinforced through operational guidance, role-based training, and accessible knowledge tools that support consistent application of standards across frontline and management teams.
Sustainability priorities & capability
Sustainability priorities are defined through a process that identifies the environmental and social topics most relevant to Swissport’s operations and stakeholders.
This ensures focus on areas where operational decisions can have the greatest impact, including emissions reduction, operational efficiency, workforce wellbeing, and responsible business practices.
These priorities guide training, operations, and continuous improvement across our network and are regularly reviewed to reflect evolving expectations.
Sustainability in practice
Swissport strengthens sustainability capability through training and development programmes delivered via Swissport Academy.
These programmes equip employees with the practical knowledge needed to apply environmental and social standards in daily operations, including resource efficiency, safe working practices, and compliance awareness.
By building sustainability skills across frontline and leadership roles, we ensure consistent application of standards and support continuous improvement across our global operations.
Fair workplaces and inclusive practices
Swissport’s Six Red Rules define minimum global standards for fair and safe working conditions, including fair pay, predictable rostering, access to rest facilities, and workload management. These principles support employee wellbeing and stable, high-performing operational teams.
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve. Today, 31.6% of leadership roles are held by women, supported by Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) for women, LGBTQIA+ colleagues, and employees with disabilities.
