Diversity, equity, and inclusion
Swissport promotes a work place environment that allows our employees to unlock their full potential. We believe in the power of cultural diversity and equal opportunity, and support positive employee relations through transparency and dialogue.
Despite all the technology, tools and equipment we use to support an excellent service delivery to our customers, it is our people who make the real difference. Beyond technical skills to fulfill their roles, it is the mindset of our employees to go the extra mile which differentiates Swissport as the partners of choice for airlines around the globe. Every year, airlines entrust us with over 250 million service contacts with their passengers. We serve them as if they were our own customers.
Centers of excellence for learning & development, compensation & benefits, talent recruitment, and labor relations help ensure that HR policies are consistent across the organization and can be relied upon as best-in-class for our employees.
DATA-DRIVEN HR MANAGEMENT
Interactive HR reports
Swissport intends to strengthen its data-driven approach through highly interactive business intelligence (BI). In 2018, to ensure the timely and consistent availability of key performance data, HR introduced a uniform approach including Microsoft’s market leading Power BI software for global reporting. Power BI features an HR dashboard and interactive reports that can satisfy global and regional business needs alike.
RECRUITMENT AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
Impartiality and equality
As an “employer of choice,“ we aim to recruit committed employees with diverse backgrounds and qualifications. As we see it, their desire for continuous learning is as important as the skills or experience they bring to the task. Impartiality and equal opportunities are cornerstones of Swissport’s recruiting strategy. We seek to give applicants and new employees an outstanding recruitment and induction experience, regardless of their role or geographic location in the world.
COLLABORATIVE LABOR RELATIONS
Swissport employs a large, diverse global workforce operating in many countries under a wide variety of jurisdictions. We strive to maintain an open and stable working relationship with all our employees and their representative bodies. With currently over 100 active formal collective labor agreements in over 20 countries, we have established appropriate frameworks to enable an effective staff representation, covering almost 60 percent of our global workforce.
PARTICIPATION AND COMMUNICATION
“good practice“ database
In its "Good Practice" database, Swissport collects ideas from employees that enable operational improvements. Examples from this database include process improvements for cargo, ramp and GSE handling and operation, and management process improvements around safety, training or HR. After a review by Swissport's Good Practice Committee as well as technical specialists and health and safety experts, promising ideas are made available internally.
