Reliability in safe operations

How disciplined execution, operational control, and technology support reliable aviation services at scale

Safe aviation operations depend on consistent execution and strong operational oversight. Across nearly 300 airports worldwide, Swissport manages complex ground handling activities with structured procedures, performance monitoring, and continuous safety oversight.

Through regular audits, operational reporting, and coordinated improvement processes, Swissport supports stable, safe, and reliable operations across diverse airport environments.

Measuring safety & reliability

Swissport tracks operational safety performance across its global network through structured monitoring, inspections, and reporting systems. Safety observations, operational data, and incident reviews help identify potential risks and strengthen operational controls.

Regular inspections and performance reviews provide visibility across locations, allowing teams to detect trends, address issues early, and reinforce consistent operational standards across all stations.

Technology for Safer Execution

Technology plays an important role in strengthening operational control across Swissport’s network. Monitoring systems, telematics, and video-based alerting tools provide teams with additional visibility across ramp activities and operational environments.

Swissport is also piloting solutions such as AI-enabled ground support equipment and Aircraft Proximity Detection Systems (APDS) designed to support situational awareness and help reduce the risk of ground incidents. These technologies complement operational procedures and help strengthen operational control and situational awareness during ground operations.

Quality & continuous Improvement

Swissport runs a global and regional audit programme covering safety, operations, infrastructure, and compliance. Audit frequency is determined by location size, complexity, and risk.

Findings are reviewed by operational and safety teams to identify trends and drive improvements across the network. Key lessons, safety alerts, and updates are shared via operational briefings and global coordination calls.

In 2025, Swissport conducted ~600,000 safety inspections, reinforcing continuous oversight and operational improvement.

Reliable operations for airline partners

Strong safety execution supports reliable airport operations. Through proactive hazard management, operational monitoring, and continuous improvement processes, Swissport helps reduce operational disruptions and strengthen consistency across ground operations.

This disciplined operational approach supports airline partners by improving operational stability, reducing the likelihood of damage incidents, and enhancing coordination across airport environments.
