Swissport appoints Dimitri Bettoni as Managing Director Belgium
Swissport International AG has appointed Dimitri Bettoni as the new Managing Director for its air cargo business in Belgium at Brussels Airport and Liège Airport. He will lead the Belgian organization starting 1 January 2022.
Dimitri Bettoni has been appointed as Managing Director of Swissport’s expanding cargo business in Belgium, as of 1 January 2022. Dimitri is a senior executive with extensive management experience in logistics and is very familiar with the aviation sector. His most recent positions include General Manager at XLG and CEO at Bio Pharma Logistics. Earlier in his career, he was Airside Services Manager with Aviapartner at Brussels Airport.
Together with the local management teams, Dimitri will lead and develop Swissport’s air cargo services at Brussels Airport and Liège Airport. Dimitri succeeds Thierry Miremont, the previous Managing Director of the Belgian organization, who decided to step down earlier this year after successfully transforming the Belgian cargo operation and laying the groundwork for a long-term sustainable growth plan.
Jan van Engelen, Head of Continental Europe at Swissport, said: “We are delighted to have won Dimitri as the Managing Director of Swissport in Belgium. His experience in global logistics, turnaround management and his customer-focused approach and leadership skills will be vital for the development of our cargo business here.”
Swissport officially inaugurated a brand-new office building in March 2021, as a part of a large scale refurbishment of its Brussels cargo complex. In 2020, Swissport’s services at Brussels Airport and Liège Airport jointly handled 470.943 tons of air cargo, with volumes for 2021 already exceeding 570.000 tons.
