Since 1996, Swissport has served the country’s three major airports: Zürich, Geneva and Basel. Today, we handle more than 30 million passengers a year as the country’s largest airport services provider
Switzerland is our home and the foundation of Swissport’s global success. Here, we deliver seamless ground handling for more than 50 airlines, including hub operations for SWISS International Air Lines. A responsibility that reflects our deep operational expertise and the trust our partners place in us. With over 30 years of hub experience, we combine Swiss precision with global know-how to deliver excellence every day.
We always put safety first at Swissport. In Switzerland, we’re always innovating to keep our people safe and remain an industry leader.
We’re the first ground handler to trial autonomous vehicles, collaborating with Aurrigo to test next-generation intelligent Ground Support Equipment (iGSE) at Zürich Airport (ZRH).
Our digital tool MatchBox, first used at ZRH, prevents inadmissible passenger violations, with cutting-edge technology, integrating seamlessly with airlines’ online-check-ins to ensure safe, compliant travel for all.
When airlines decide to focus on their core product, they look for reliable outsourcing partners. For best-in-class ground services, airline customers turn to Swissport.
We’ve developed over 30 years of experience managing complex large base operations at Switzerland’s major airports, from the primary hub of SWISS at Zürich to supporting easyJet at bases in Basel-Mulhouse and Geneva.
Our ability to optimize turnaround times and minimize downtime ensures that schedules are maintained, and costs are kept under control.
We support this critical industry with our cold chain expertise, with warehouses equipped to handle pharmaceutical shipments.
Swissport Pharma Centers are certified to IATA CEIV Pharma standards. Our innovative Cool+Connect solution at our Basel-Mulhouse center minimizes handling time and ensures uncompromised temperature control for 2–8°C shipments, cutting handling time and CO₂ emissions by up to 70%.
Swissport is committed to an industry-leading position on sustainability. In Switzerland, we have electrified more than half (55%) of our ground service vehicle fleet, surpassing company-wide targets. We are on track to lower our scope 1 and 2 emissions by 51% by 2032, backed by Science Based Targets.
Our sustainability initiatives extend beyond decarbonization; we’re building a fairer and more equal workforce for all. We proudly support the IATA 25by2025 initiative and the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles, and have achieved gender-equal pay in Switzerland since 2022.
Our Aspire brand is Europe’s largest for airport lounges; we proudly operate seven of them across Switzerland’s three major airports.
In partnership with École hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), we bring the premium hotel guest experience for our guests, ensuring they feel relaxed and energized for their onward journey.
We are committed to expanding our lounge capacity, extensively refurbishing our Sky Lounge at Basel-Mulhouse, upgrading our Aspire First Lounge at Zürich to our new Aspire Suite concept, and at Geneva with our new three-tier lounge package.
